Established in 2002
Following graduation at Xiamen University with a BS degree in Marine Biology in 1984, Yong Zhu begun his research training in the field of comparative endocrinology at The University of Tokyo between 1985 and 1991. He was awarded a MS degree in 1988 and a PhD degree in Agriculture in 1991 from The University of Tokyo. Then, Dr. Zhu was working as a research scientist at Central Research Institute Maruha Co. (now part of Maruha Nichiro) at Tuskuba Japan between 1991 and 1992, a postdoctoral fellow and subsequently a research associate at The University of Texas at Austin between 1993 and 2001. He established current lab in January 2002 when he accepted an assistant professor position at Department of Biology East Carolina University. Since then, he was tenured and promoted to associate professor (2008) and full professor (2015). Dr. Zhu is a world renowned comparative endocrinologist.
